The dreaded scourge

We got the call every parent dreads: “Your child has lice.” Apparently one of the older girls gave it to the whole school. It must have just happened today, because Faye wasn’t itching or anything even up to this morning. I picked her up at noon and got the shampoo and Nix treatment from CVS. Then we came home and she got her hair washed and treated, and she was great for the whole thing. I sat her in front of the TV while I picked the nits and still-live lice out of her hair (guess I didn’t use enough shampoo!) for two hours. Shaun came home to help and to start the laundry. Faye was really, really good for the whole hair-picking part. I told her it was a special kind of dirt that was very hard to get out, and she understood. Here’s hoping I found them all. We’ll check again tomorrow. Good news: Shaun and I checked each other and we’re clean.

You guys take such good care of Faye, I’m sure she’ll be fine in no time. Those darn things are soooo hard to get rid of. Give her lots of kisses from Grammy.
