Under the Weather

Faye’s right index finger (the one she sucks) had been getting progressively red and swollen the past week, and she’s had a mild fever. Yesterday it looked like a popped blister so I put some neosporin and a bandaid on it to keep her from making it worse.

This morning she was very out of sorts and kept asking me to take the “sticker” off her finger because it hurt. I removed the bandaid and what used to be a blister had become a greenish/black abscess. We promptly called the Drs. Gehring. (Thanks, guys!)

Long story short, she has a staph infection. Shaun took her to the pediatrician and they drained it and prescribed an oral antibiotic for 10 days. She will probably have to stay home the rest of the week, but MawMaw will watch her for us at least through Wednesday. Staph is very contagious so we don’t want her around anybody who is susceptible. We’ll keep you posted on her progress.
