You’re at the halfway mark congratulations! Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. She’s about 10 inches from head to heel. (The way your baby is measured now changes.) A greasy white substance called vernix caseosa coats your baby’s entire body to protect her skin during its long submersion in amniotic fluid. She’s also producing meconium, a black, sticky substance made of dead cells, digestive secretions, and swallowed amniotic fluid, which will accumulate in her bowels and end up in her first diaper.
P.S. She’s actually 11 oz, but that’s good! Maybe that means the extra 3 lbs I’ve put on are due to her additional .5 oz. Heh.

I went ahead and merged all the content from the Baby Blog into the main website into a Baby category. Most info from here on out will be probably posted in both spots anyway.
You can click the “Baby Post” link over on the left side if you just wanna see baby news.

This weekend we got around to painting to the nursery. The top is called Sweet Pear, and the bottom is African Violet.
Next weekend we’ll put up this cute Winnie the Pooh border between the two colors (hence the sloppy line).

Needs a major weeding. Nice looking day but still too hot to work outdoors.

That dot there in the center is a full moon still out this morning.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces, and he measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the length of a small zucchini. The hair on his scalp is sprouting. If your baby is a girl, she already has 6 million eggs in her ovaries. This is a crucial time for sensory development: Your baby’s brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. He may be able to hear you as you talk. Research shows that he’s learning to distinguish your voice from others, and he’ll soon show a preference for it. Let Dad get in on the act, too — encourage him to talk to your baby.
“Hello, Al. I used to encourage you.”

We finally found the rug pattern we (read: me) were looking for. The old one was really dull. Hopefully this adds some color to the room.

Hey gang,
Just FYI, we added a registry at Walmart yesterday because we saw some cute Winnie the Pooh stuff that Babies R Us didn’t have. We only put on a few items that were cheaper than BRU. Sadly, they keep raising the prices at both stores since we originally registered, and I keep changing my mind about what I want. Sorry.

Look what’s on the sidewalk in front of the library. Their motto: “please don’t spell it flour.”
P.S. This the company where Shaun works.
