Thanksgiving

We’re back on the road now after visiting all the family this past weekend.

We had Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday with my sister and her family house at her house in Slidell, LA. My brother’s Briton and Jared showed up (Jared took a nap afterward as pictured). Later that evening, we headed to Bay Saint Louis, MS to visit Donna’s MOM and Pappa. More turkey leftovers and cake (yum!) followed.

Friday was just more lounging around, visiting, eating, watching TV, etc…

Saturday morning I developed what we think was a case of food poisoning. I thought I maybe just ate too much or was bloated from all the snacking and sodas I had Friday. My Stomach felt really really full Friday night when we headed to bed. I got up at 4am for a potty break and my stomach felt awful, like it was going to pop. Next thing I know, I’m throwing up….a lot. Thankfully it was just one long nasty spell, and it stopped. I just felt like total crap afterwards for the rest of the day.

At 7:30am my stomach was ok so as planned we headed to New Orleans to visit Donna’s dad and step-mom. I spent most of the day here bundled in my sweater hoodie, coat, mittens, and napping cause I had the chills and fever of 102 at one point. Finally in the evening the Tylenol kicked in and I felt pretty fine. So Ma wanted to snap a picture of me with the birthday cake since I was out cold during dinner and do presents. I got a pretty spiffy sheet of Marvel Collectors Stamps. Never knew they had ‘em. They’ll go nextto my Star Wars stamps.

We then spent Saturday night at Dawn’s house (Donna’s sister), which actually used to be where Donna and I lived when she and her sister co-owned the house back in 2000-2001. While Lakeview still isn’t near what it looked like pre-Katrina, we noticed more and more houses coming back up every visit. So yay.

Sunday morning we stopped at Granny’s house to say hi and she how she was doing for a little while, then we hit road to head home.

That’s pretty much the recap of the trip. We took Highway 90 west to Lafayette to get around the closed portion of I-10. Ran in to some really nasty weather, but it looks like we’ve made it through the worst.

Only 203 miles to go!
