Head to bottom, your baby is approximately 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a large sweet potato), and she weighs almost 7 ounces. She’s busy flexing her arms and legs — movements that you’ll likely start noticing more and more. Myelin (a protective covering) is beginning to form around her nerves, a process that will continue for a year after she’s born. If you’re having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If your baby is a boy, his genitals are noticeable, though he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
Hi everybody! Baby X hasn’t made its presence known through moving or kicking yet, but he/she sure is getting bigger. I finally wore my first maternity shirt today. It’s so comfy (thanks Tracy)! Our next ultrasound is Sept 28 at 7:15am. A friend told me to drink a little caffeine that morning to get the baby moving around enough to see what the sex is. Don’t worry, the book says up to a cup of coffee a day is safe, and I haven’t even been drinking that. Thanks for checking in!

It’s like they’re TRYING to make you hungry with all these “your kid now looks like fruit/vegetable x” reports. Yay for the next ultrasound! I think they cost about $200, if memory serves, but mine was in PA so don’t quote me on that. Very, VERY cool that we’ll soon know whether we have a future wood nymph or else a future cameraman for our next at-home-cooking-show! Hee. Welcome to the weirdos, kid. :-D
