Making the switch

This weekend we’ll be making the switch from digital cable to Dish Network satellite tv.

Ever since Comcast started taking over Time Warner here, I’ve had nothing but problems with them processing my autopay payments. Service has been kinda weird too.

So I decided to jump ship. It has benefits of course. With their fancy HD DVR box, we’ll be able to watch digital tv and dvr’d stuff in the bedroom now (or any room really with a cable line). Before we only got basic cable elsewhere.

It’ll also save us about $20 a month. I didn’t get the fancy $20/month hd package. Most of the channels are crap except for discoveryHD. I’ll miss that. Maybe one day I’ll add it. I’ll also pull down our local channels OTA, so that’ll save another $5/month.

All in all I think it’ll work out nicely. Next step is to replace the bedroom tv with something slightly larger than doesn’t have a buzz to it :)
