During our walmart stop, we found a room at a Best Western here in Greenville, AL. This will be our home till whenever we can go back to salvage what’s left. After that, we’re not sure what to do.
Is estimated to take 4-6 minimum to restore power to the city. Its basically un-inhabitable. We made end up relocating. We just don’t really know right now.
Hi all,
Just a note that we’re doing ok. The power at our hotel cut off yesterday at noon and was still this morning. Dawn has a friend in Birmingham so we’re heading their so we’ll have a place with power, food etc…
Last I saw on wwl, NOLA is in shambles and under Marshal Law. And they’re not letting anyone in. The twin span on I10 is gone so there’s no way to get from the east, whenever that will be.
On the way we stopped at a shell and our a found an outlet to grab a charge for a little bit.
We’re at a super walmart in Greenville, AL now looking for a power invertor for the car to charge the laptop and stuff for the rest of the driver today and in the future.
Later for now till we get to Birmingham.
Welp, everything has been ok so far here in Mobile. Winds are pretty strong with some light rain. We’re up on the top floor (12) and you feel the building swaying. It was making me a little sick so I’m hanging out in the lobby watching tv and IRC’ing on the SK.
Lights flicker every now and then but no power loss yet luckily.
Talked to parent who downtown in a hotel and from the sounds of flooding, my house will probably have a foot at least of water I’m guessing.
