Adventures in Moving
Oh man, what a day.
So here’s the story. About a month ago, we got an apartment at this place Alta Creek in Sugar Land, TX. The floorplan we had wasn’t available to look at, so we looked at a slightly different model. It looked fine.
Fast forward to today. We arrive at Alta Creek at 1pm when they opened. Right off the bat the only girl who was there said our paper work wasn’t ready, but we could take the key and check out the apt. So we did. We hopped on over and found the place still being cleaned. There a was VCR, some boots, brooms, and an ice chest in the place. And we were *supposed* to move in yesterday! Oh, and the screaming kid next door was annoying too.
But the main problem to us was we found the place to be smaller than we thought. WAY smaller. So we considered our options.
1) Suck it up and move in. We’d then just find a new place in 3 months.
2) Move in, and find a place asap and break our lease. We’d take a $600 hit on that.
or 3) Tell them to bug off, leave and find a nice big house to move into. We’d just keep everything in the rental truck and extend the rental if needed for $100/day.
We opted to for option three as it would be the cheapest and we just really didn’t like this place in the end. Plus we wouldn’t have to unload and reload later.
So right now we’re back at mws’ place eating all his food. We found 11 homes online in the area for rent and went and drive by them to check ‘em out. We narrowed it down to 5 afterwards. Tomorrow morning I’ll be calling all the agents to schedule viewings and hopefully by end of day Monday or Tuesday, we’ll have a home to move into :)
