Bird is the Word
It’s time for another round of “What’s the latest news with Shaun & Donna.” I’ll try to keep this one brief this time. So in no particular order…
- After 2 phone calls, 3 hours of busy signals, 1 disconnect, and 6 hours on hold (bleh).. The wonderful folks at the Red Cross gave us $665 in financial aid. Thank you!
- Gee…Thanks FEMA for the help too… :/ (click)
- Donna’s company still screwing people over and not going to reopen the Metairie office for months, if ever, so she got a full time job here with some former coworkers. Workplace and people are better too so it’s kinda a blessing in disguise in a way.
- We got an apartment here in Sugar Land, TX as well where we’ll be living at until January at the earliest, most likely for a good while. We’re gonna use some of that Red Cross aid to help relocate our stuff here. We’ll be moving in October 7-8, 2005.
- I talked to my boss finally, things at home are mostly ok. I’m trying to see if I can work something out to work from here in TX doing my web development for the company. It’s a new job and *really* don’t wanna leave it, but Donna does make more than me so we have to go where she goes pretty much to keep up our income. If not, I will still have my danger job to fall back on for the time being at least.
- Again, a thanks to everyone who donated. Right now we’re mostly using it for gas and some clothes stuff. But it’ll will be a huge help for a relocation here, especially after FEMA gave us the big FU for any help.
- Still no word on when can go home to check out stuff. Business are being let back with an approved pass, but that doesn’t really tell us anything. I’m worried that fridge at home is gonna mutate into some ugly monster or something like that episode of Cowboy Bepop. :)
And…..that’s it I think. TTFN.
P.S. Just to keep this post from looking too boring, here’s some pics totally unrelated. Steak night courtesy of our “landlords”. :)

I hear FEMA’s doing that to lots of folks. Perhaps someone should tell a reporter. It’s something people should know. All we hear is that everyone’s getting $2000. BTW: I suspect your fridge has already spawned a family.
I really hope things go good with you guys. I wish you the best! The area around Sugar Land, TX is humid…compared to where I live. But I guess you are used to it. Arn’t you?
